Can horses get fleas?
Yes, both fleas and ticks can cause serious harm to horses as they carry a lot of diseases. If horses get fleas it can cause various health issues such as, dermatitis, sores, hair loss and skin inflammation.

How to get rid of fleas on horses?
Getting rid of fleas on horses is different to cats and dogs - as horses are larger animals, spot on treatments are not as effective, therefore we recommend thoroughly bathing the coat and mane of your horse with warm soapy water. After they have been bathed, you can then use a horse-friendly flea treatment such as Get Rid Flea and Lice Powder or Deosect Horse Flea Killer Spray to kill off any fleas or larvae that may still be present.

What flea treatments can I use on a horse?
Most commercial flea treatments or fly sprays are suitable to use on a horse, however most of the time, bathing your horse with warm soapy water and grooming them will get rid of fleas the best. If that doesn't work, we offer a range of horse-friendly flea treatments here at Direct4Pet to help eradicate persistent pests quickly.
