The combination of these things will help you to get more control over your dog on walks and aid you in training them to stop pulling. The easiest way to enforce this is to teach your dog that walking next to you with a loose lead means that they get to move forward and pulling means that they don't. When walking your dog, pay attention to when the lead starts to tighten, when this happens, stop walking and stand still. Do not move forward again until the lead is slack - the best lead for this is either a training lead or a slip lead, retractable leads will not work to train them but are a good option if you don't want your dog to pull but want them to roam freely.
