How do I know if my cat needs grooming?
Most felines groom themselves on a daily basis, however some cats may need a helping hand. The signs you should look out for to dictate whether your cat needs grooming are things suchs as, matted fur, wounds, sore patches and changes in your cat's coat. In this instance we recommend using a cat grooming brush to give your pet a helping hand or if you're still concerned about their lack of grooming, we advise taking them to the vets for more advice.
What do cats use to groom themselves?
Cats use the rough surface of their tongue that contains small spikey hooks called 'papillae' to groom themselves, as well as using their sharp teeth and comb-like paws. Cats can even use their front paws to stimulate tiny oil glands on their head which is then spread all over their body as a type of "perfume".
How often should you bathe a cat?
Generally speaking, most cats don't ever need to have a bath unlike dogs, however if you have an outdoor cat or a particularly messy situation occurs, it may be necessary to give your cat a bath. If you choose to bathe your cat we recommend doing so no more than every 4-6 weeks, in order to preserve their naturally produced oils and keep their coat and skin in good condition.
